Ghandruk village (1940 m) trek provides a good introduction into trekking whilst also providing some wonderful close up views of both the sacred mountain Macchapuchre (Fishtail) and Annapurna South. Our destination is the beautiful and ornate village of Ghandruk, home to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project. Here you have a chance to visit the project to discover at first hand the conservation work being carried out. A refreshing three days allowing an insight into mountain life. Ghandruk has 'must see' attraction of the old village, a tightly woven network of slate-roofed houses and alleys. Ghandruk is one of the shortest trek lies in Annapurna region. The trek is relatively easy and traverses through the beautiful villages. This Ghandruk is teh second largest settlements inhabited by Gurung people after Sikles village. Ghandruk vilallage not only the popular trek for foreign trekkers but also many Nepalese specially students makes their destination to Ghandruk. It is such a charming village where you can enjoy your two or three days. Starting from Bire Thanti 2 hours of drive from scenic city of Pokhara by a private vehicle. It takes about 5 hours of hiking toward the Modi Khola. This trek can be organized 3 to 4 days. From Ghandrung the main trail passes through Tadapani to the pass at Ghorepani.

Additional Information

The Trail Conditions:

Straight, Uphill, Downhill, Jig Jag with small rocky, pebbles, somewhere flat man made stone steps, through the rhododendron, moss covered forests, suspensions metal bridges

Medication

  • Bandage for sprains
  • Plasters/Band-aids
  • Iodine or water filter (optional)
  • Moleskin/Second skin – for blisters
  • Antiseptic ointment for cuts
  • Anti-bacterial throat lozenges (with antiseptic)
  • Aspirin/paracetamol – general painkiller
  • Oral dehydration salts
  • Broad-spectrum antibiotic (norfloxacin or ciprofloxin)
  • Anti-diarrhea medication (antibiotic)
  • Diarrhea stopper (Imodium – optional)
  • Antibiotic for Giardia or similar microbe or bacteria
  • Diamox (altitude sickness – can be bought in Kathmandu)

Above things are required for Upper Ghandruk Trek. However if you do not have clothing you can either buy or rent in Nepal. In this case we have equipment cheaper than your country.
